Pinheiros Supporting Firefighters And Humber Rescue

WAKEFIELD BASED, leading, worldwide suppliers of pre-owned printing machinery, Pinheiros, is supporting a team of Hull-based fire fighters on a charity swim to raise money for 'The Firefighters Charity' and 'Humber Fire and Rescue Service'.

On Sunday July 22nd the brave team of seven will be swimming across the River Humber under the Iconic Humber Bridge.

The route from the North side of the river starts from Barton and finishes on the South side at Hessle Foreshore.  It is approximately 1.5 miles in distance, and is not the shortest distance across the large expanse of water but allows for the strong currents expected.

Hours of pool-based training coupled with open water sessions has prepared the team for the swim which will be timed to make best use of the strong tides.

Martin Mason, director at Pinheiros said:  “We are pleased and proud to be supporting such an initiative.  Firefighters risk their lives on a daily basis and their bravery should be recognised more regularly.  We wish Steve and all the team well on the swim and hope they raise lots of money for the chosen charities.”

The Fire Fighters Charity is celebrating its 75th year in 2018. From its roots supporting bereaved families of firefighters killed during the Blitz, the charity is a modern day service that provides life enhancing health and wellbeing support to the whole fire community either serving or retired. The charity supports thousands of beneficiaries a year through a broad range of services at rehab centres such as Penrith in Cumbria.
